Winter Art projects!

Here are a few of our winter art projects that we worked on!!
Recently we played around with color mixing!  There were 6 tables with different colors on them, a red table, a yellow table, blue table etc..  On each table were 2 variations of the base color and then white and the kids created all kinds of shades with just a few colors.  The kids love traveling from table to table and mixing colors and painting patterns on their paper!! The end result was beautiful and it was so much fun to see their faces light up when they saw what they could create!!

1st graders made these super fun "Snowman at Night" paintings!! They learned the art of color mixing directly onto the paper and how to completely cover your paper with a repeated motion.  They also learned about shading their snowman and how the moon can cast a shadow at night.
2nd graders made this really cute snowflake kids!! I instructed the drawing and then they painted their little characters!  I think they are just adorable and it always amazes me that they end up drawing a character that is similar to themselves!
3rd-5th grade made these beautiful tree scenes that we ended up turning into cards to give to their pastors!  They tree scenes were drawn on black sulphite paper and colored with oil pastels.  The kids love blending the oil pastels and seeing the results!!

Lastly we had a lot of fun during Thanksgiving time!!
1st and 2nd graders made the most adorable turkeys and pilgrims!! I just love their drawings, they have so much expression and creativity to them!!  These paintings were drawn with oil pastel and then painted with water colors!
I will try and get some of my sweet Kinders art projects up here soon!!!
Blessings
Candi
